RE/MAX Cayman Islands Partners with Race Car Driver Josh Mason in Euroformula Open Championship

RE/MAX Cayman Islands is proud to partner with Josh Mason, who spent much of his childhood in the Cayman Islands, as he competes in the Euroformula Open Championship.

The 2021 Euroformula Open Championship is a multi-event motor racing championship for single-seater open wheel formula racing cars that is held across Europe. The championship features drivers competing in Euroformula Open Championship specification Dallara 320 chassis cars. The 2021 circuit takes drivers to Portugal, France, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, Austria, and Barcelona racing on the same tracks as the Formula 1 circuit.

Joshua Mason was born in Birmingham, England but moved to a Sussex before his second birthday. He attended Great Walstead School and Bedes School. His mother is third-generation Trinidadian and Grenadian of Indian descent, and his father is first-generation British of Nigerian descent.

Growing up, Josh was a keen football and rugby player and did not take up racing until he reached 14 years of age. Aged 10, he underwent chest surgery to correct a congenital abnormality which temporarily prevented him from playing football and rugby and led him to turn his focus to driving simulator games.

He started racing go-karts, taking part in club racing at Buckmore Park and PF International in the Junior Max (Rotax) and selected Junior X30 classes at the end of the 2016 and 2017 seasons. Although this would be considered extremely late to start karting, Josh made steady progress winning rookie trophies.

Josh’s career highlights include 16th in 2020 BRDC British Formula 3 (1 podium), 3rd in 2019-20 MRF Challenge (6 podiums) and 12th in 2019 BRDC British Formula 1 (1 win, 3 podiums).

After 2 races so far this season, Josh is ranked #8 but we expect him to be climbing higher as the season gets into full swing. Josh’s next race is on June 20 at Spa in Belgium, which is also home to the Formula 1 Belgium Grand Prix. Want to check out Josh in action? Visit:
